My biggest concern is that the transmission is messed up. The rest of the damage can surely be repaired. Part of me is hoping that they write it off and I get out of my lease. Removing the cost of car+insurance+gas from our monthly budget would save us quite a bit of money (even if I would have to endure public transit again...). I am currently driving a newish Ford Focus, and compared to the Mazda 3 it drives like a space ship, and not in a good way. Does that leave you without a car for a few days...weeks? Based on the little bit in the blog it sounds like it could be written off as unreliable even if they thought they could fix it.
